BATU HIJAU
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

To Whom It May Concern

Martin Palmer has just completed his 2-year contract with us at Batu Hijau International School.

He has been in charge of Music and Drama, setting up the programme and curriculum at our two campuses - here in Mataram (on the island of Lombok) and over on the island of Sumbawa.

It has been an extraordinarily difficult task, as Martin has had to travel between both schools, teaching music and drama on a bi-weekly basis.

Martin came to us in January 1998 highly recommended. Statements such as "a world leader", "superb", "talented", "a gifted teacher" convinced the board to hire Martin.

All of these superlatives have proved true. He is a truly talented teacher of music and drama who has been able to really make the subject live for our students.

Martin has taught music and drama to all grades (pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12) and has also offered individual lessons in piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe and voice.

He has directed a number of musicals and plays. These included Oliver, Alice in Wonderland, Baba Yaga, and original piece entitled P.L.U.T.O., Computerella, and Midsummer Night's Dream.

Martin has also entertained the entire school population with individual performances, and has presented An Evening with Noel Coward to the expatriate population of Mataram.

The school that next employs Martin Palmer is indeed fortunate.

I would be happy to be contacted to further expand on this written reference.
