An Actor-Musician Goes Solo

This Musical Puck began his career as a child actor before studying the Clarinet and Piano at the Royal Manchester College of Music. After further studies at McGill University, he joined the staff at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama; and studied singing privately. Since his London début, at the Purcell Room in 1980, he has been in demand as a Pied Piper almost everywhere, except Paraguay.

NEWS FLASH

Since early 2009, Martin Palmer has taken up the pen, in addition to his clarinet and one man shows. His forthcoming book, "THE KINGDOMS OF THE DIAMOND QUEEN", will cover an often unrecognised role of Queen Elizabeth II, namely, her reigning over 16 countries: not just Australia, Canada and the Bahamas; but also New Zealand, Belize and ..oh, of course, the United Kingdom... + 10 more ! The book will coincide with her Diamond Jubilee in 2012, hence the title.

In November, 2009, Martin visited Government House, Port Moresby, to interview the Governor-General's private secretary, and to learn about how Papua New Guineans consider and view their Queen.

Martin will be moving back to Oxford in mid-2010, to continue his research in London, and perform his redefined and updated shows :-

His Noel Coward revue - "The Oriental Coward" - becomes "The Coward In Me"

His royal show - "Let's Not Be Beastly to the Windsors!" - becomes "The Diamond Sovereigns" ( featuring the Diamond Jubilees of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II)

Charles Dickens, Flanders and Swann, Winnie the Pooh + the solo Victorian pantomime, "Jack and the giant Grumblegrim", have been polished and re-gilded.
